Welcome to the second post of a three-part Bali travel guide from my dream honeymoon trip in July. Over nine days, we traveled to three very different parts of Bali and loved each and every place. Read on for the best places to eat, drink, party, and sleep in Seminyak.
Where to start! We were overwhelmed by the amazing food and drink options around Seminyak. We seriously considered extending our stay so we could have another day of eating and drinking in this beautiful beach town.
Eat
Sea Circus – An Instagram-worthy spot both inside and outside, Sea Circus was our first meal in Seminyak and it set the bar high. We ordered the Nourish Bowl, Summer Poke Bowl and Crispy Calamari with ginger soy sauce. Everything was incredibly fresh and flavorful, a welcome combination while traveling. Plus, the coconut cold drip which was to die for.
Sisterfields – This is the place to see and be seen while drinking fresh-pressed juice and munching on flawless Australian fare. It’s located on a popular side street right in Seminyak, and the food is as tasty as it is photogenic. I devoured the Pulled Pork Charcoal Roll with fennel & cabbage coleslaw and Turan had the classic Smashed Avocado Toast.
Café Organic – If you’ve seen a smoothie bowl tagged in Bali on Instagram, it was probably at Café Organic. They use the freshest fruit, boast unique flavor combinations, and present each bowl in a beautifully styled coconut shell. And did I mention that their iced lattes come in mason jars with bamboo straws? Sold. We popped our #GardenGangsta cherries with the Bondi and Naga Dragon bowls, but you can’t go wrong with any of the bowls.
Bikini – For our last dinner in Seminyak we went to the brand new Bikini, or as the sign says, “U Look Hot in a Bikini.” Their plates are meant to be shared so you can order even more options. We ordered almost everything on the menu, but our favorite was the Off the Charts Popcorn Chicken and my Spiced Whiskey Sour drink with a sprig of rosemary.
Revolver Café – Revolver was so good, we went twice. First, for a quick coffee break between sightseeing, and on our last morning to fuel up for the drive to Ubud. Turan had the Smoking Barrel (eggs, bacon and chili on toast) and I loved the Grassy Knoll (smoked salmon, quinoa, asparagus and fresh greens). Plus cold brew coffee for both of us, obviously.
Drink + Beach
Potato Head Beach Club – Everyone who gave us recommendations for Bali had Potato Head at the top of their list. So, naturally, went all out and rented a poolside bed for the whole day. This was one of our favorite days in Seminyak. What’s not to like about lounging by a pool on the beach, eating and drinking, people-watching, and enjoying one of the most spectacular Bali sunsets ever? If you do decide to visit Potato Head, make sure you go when it opens because the beds go quickly and are a steal compared to many other beach clubs.
Motel Mexicola – On our second-to-last day in Seminyak, Turan and I went on a mini bar crawl, honeymoon-style. Motel Mexicola was our favorite stop. Not only do they have delicious margaritas, chips and guacamole, but the dance scene after 10pm is highly entertaining. It’s the Australian version of spring break in Mexico, and it did not disappoint. We also visited La Favela which immediately transports you to Brazil, but doesn’t get going until around 1am.
Stay
We stayed at the beautiful Alila Seminyak in an ocean view room with a balcony overlooking the pool and ocean. After having our own private pool in Uluwatu, it was nice to have our choice of three hotel pools, plus the beach just steps away. And, in a social town like Seminyak, you’ll want to be out and about taking in the local party scene anyway. The hotel is nicely situated along the beach, just a few minutes’ walk into town, but not directly in the melee that can be Seminyak at night. The hotel’s restaurant, Seasalt, was great for breakfast, but I recommend dining in town for lunch and dinner because there are SO many amazing places to choose from.
Next up, Ubud!
